Awesome Kids' Blog!

Our Author of the Month for November is the awesome Ruth Symes

Posted 1/11/2017 by Blenheim_Library

Ruth SymesHello everyone (wild virtual waving) from me and my dogs Bella (named after Bella Donna) and Freya.

Thank you so much for inviting me to be Author of the Month 

I’m really pleased that you’ve been enjoying my Bella Donna books because I love writing them!

Pegatha in the Bella Donna books is inspired by the cat who lives over the road that I often look after. He’s really friendly and as soon as I let myself in he comes racing down the stairs and over to me for a cuddle and a tummy-rub. If he’s very excited he’ll jump through his cat-flap run round the garden and then come bouncing back in through the cat-flap. I can almost hear him say ‘Ta-da!” My neighbours are always apologetic when they ask me if I’ll look after him but I love doing so – he’s a brilliant story cat.

As part of my research for the Bella Donna books I’ve been trying some different nature inspired foods recently including stinging nettle soup – which was surprisingly yummy and not stingy at all. There’s lots of recipes like this one for it on the internet http://www.the-veg-life.com/tag/stinging-nettle-soup/

Hope you have a brilliant November and do say hello to my friend Kath Bee if you see her singing one of her lovely songs.  Bella Donna

My dog Ma is very playful. She was named Ma because she is white. Ma would be a very good dog for a witch because she can blend in with the moon and snow.
