Library Membership

Who can join the Marlborough District Libraries?

It is free to join if you are a Marlborough District resident or ratepayer - or if you attend an educational institution in the district. Non-residents and visitors can join for a subscription of $10 per month, or $78 per year.

How do I join the library?

  • You can join at the District Library in Blenheim, or at the Picton branch library.
  • Bring two forms of identification - one with your signature on (e.g. drivers licence, bank card); the other a printed form of your name and current residential address (e.g. rates demand, bank statement, electricity account)
  • If you are under 18 we will need a parent or caregiver to fill out and sign the application form.

Using the library

  • Your Marlborough District Libraries card allows you to borrow items from either of our libraries. Please bring your library card with you when you visit the Libraries. We recommend that you do not share your library card, as you are responsible for all items borrowed using your card.
  • Please notify us if you change your address or lose your card as soon as possible.
  • You can return items to either library when we are closed, by returning them into our after-hours bins.

How many items can I have out at one time?

Children and young adults can borrow up to 15 items, and Adults up to 30 items.
