OverDrive - Free Downloadable media (e-Books & Audio Books)

OverDrive is a free digital media platform where you can download titles onto your PC or MAC. You can also transfer them to all popular portable devices eg. iPods, iPhones, iPads, other MP3 players, smartphones and eReaders (Kobo, Sony Reader). Kindles are not currently supported.
"South Island Downloadable Zone" is brought to you by a group of South Island Libraries working cooperatively to provide free downloadable e-books and audio books to their customers, using OverDrive - the world's biggest provider of e-books and audio books. It's free, open 24/7 and you never have to pay overdues!
Explore our growing collection of digital audio and e-books and use your library card to download titles to your computer or portable players.
You will need:
- An internet or wifi connected computer, smart phone or mobile device
- A Marlborough District Libraries membership card and PIN (free for all permanent residents in Marlborough)
- Free software for PC and Mac: Adobe Digital Editions (eBooks) and / or OverDrive Media Console (audiobooks) - both available from the OverDrive downloadable media homepage.
- Free software for iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad & Android: OverDrive's Audiobook app is also linked from OverDrive's homepage.
You can:
- Download e-books or audio titles from home at any time
- Transfer e-book titles to your computer or portable devices such as e-book readers and smartphones. E-books are compatible with most e-book readers and mobile devices except Kindles
- Transfer audio titles to your computer or portable devices such as an MP3 player or iPod.
- Burn some audio book titles to disc
- Avoid overdue charges - the items self expire or you can check in e-books early if you have finished with them.
