Wide Reading Lists
When you get to High School you will have to complete a 'wide reading assignment'. This is basically making sure that you are reading outside of your comfort zone. The books that you read for this assignment, while your own choice, will need to be from a variety of different genres.
At the library, we often get asked for lists of books for 'wide reading'. The lists below will help you but you can also follow the links to the websites for award-winning books, which will give you information on the scope of the award or medal and also access to previous winners.
And remember, if your wide reading assignment is becoming a struggle, we have unabridged talking books of some of the titles listed below. If you need help ask a librarian to locate some simple and short books that will enable you to succeed in your studies!
