Database of the Day - The Prow ngā korero o te tau ihu

The Prow is Marlborough, Nelson and Tasman's own heritage website and contains historical stories, photographs and study and research resources.

This website is a collaboration between the Marlborough and Tasman District Libraries, Nelson City, Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology and the Nelson Provincial Museum. It is managed by Nelson Public Libraries.

It features concise stories about the people, places and events unique to the area. There are stories about explorers, early Māori life, how European settlement affected the local iwi and the struggles and triumphs of the European settlers.

Browse by themes or search by keyword. Each of the stories includes extensive lists of, and links to, resources for further research in libraries, museums, on the web or out in the region itself. There is also the opportunity to add your own local history or family stories to the website.

Topics of interest include articles on Marlborough wine and vines, Marlborough Sounds whaling, education in Marlborough and Dr Thomas Renwick.
