Family History Month 2026

August is Family History Month and a great time to explore your roots and uncover the stories of your whānau.

We have a range of resources to support you in your family history research with access to free in-library databases including Ancestry.com, Findmypast and The British Newspaper Archive.

The Blenheim Family History Group meet in the Marlborough Room at Te Kahu o Waipuna from 1.00 pm to 3.00 pm every Wednesday and are happy to help with your family history research. They are also available at the Picton Library and Service Centre on the first and third Friday of each month. Everyone is welcome, just pop in on the day.

To celebrate Family History Month, why not join us for an information session designed to help you make the most of the family history resources available through the library.

We'll explore:

  • How newspapers can be used effectively for family history research
  • Subscription family history databases available free in the library
  • Online research tools and guides you can access from home at no cost
  • Tips for finding and organising family history information

Choose from one of two sessions: Tuesday 11 August or Thursday 27 August

Time: 11.00 am – 12.00 pm

Venue: Room 3, Marlborough Library at Te Kahu o Waipuna

Come and join us we'd love to see you there!
