Library members can borrow books, talking books, DVDs, magazines and more to take home and enjoy.
Members can enjoy access from home to a variety of digital resources including newspapers and magazines, eBooks and eAudiobooks, and databases for research articles.
All you need to join Marlborough District Libraries is be a permanent resident in Marlborough and present some valid ID at the library, if you are under 18 you will need permission from a parent or guardian to join

Membership renewal
Every two years we will contact you by email or letter and ask you to confirm your contact details. You can either reply to the email or update your details on your next visit to the library.

Digital only membership
We offer an Digital Only Membership for those joining online. This allows new members to access our library e-resources for a one year period whereas normal online registration is limited to two weeks.

Standard membership
If you are a permanent resident in the Marlborough district, or are a Marlborough ratepayer, it is free to join.
If you are over 18 all you need is some official ID, such as a drivers licence or passport.
If you’re under 18, a parent or guardian will need to be with you when you join.

Special Types of Membership
Housebound membership
If you, or someone you know, is living with a disability or finds it difficult to get out and about, our Housebound Membership means we will bring the library to you. This service is free.
You’ll be matched with a library volunteer and depending on your interests, they can bring you books, talking books, DVDs, music CDs and jigsaw puzzles.
Housebound library members can borrow up to 30 items per card and may borrow some items for longer than our usual lending period.

School/teacher membership
Our school membership enables teachers from early childcare providers through to secondary schools to borrow up to 30 items for up to six weeks.
Each school membership card is linked to a teacher and classroom.
Visit your local library (Blenheim or Picton) with official ID.
Contact the library to find out more about our services for schools and pre-schools, arrange resources for home-schooling educators, or to arrange a class visit.
Visitor membership
If you are in Marlborough for a short time you can still enjoy the library!
For $11 per month visitors can borrow up to four physical items (books, DVDs, magazines). You can also access our online resources including eBooks and eAudiobooks.
Visit your local library and bring along some official ID, for example a passport.
